Here is where I start, this looks to me like a certain Mr Pryse, a printer who with his wife Marion was the drive behind Aberdare Park Races, a nice posh Ariel SQ4 too.

Thanks to his son Geoffrey Snow, this rare pic of Des Snow of Merthyr, a lad that returned from the Army to open a Garage & become a Highly successful racer too.   This is that TRIUMPH TWIN machine recovered from the Goytre Pond/reservoir to ever after be termed the Goytre Special! & raced, here in action against the top riders & machinery at Aberdare Park.

John Storr, No 16 John always rode for Ernie Earles of Erdington, in spite of other attractive offers, John helped me put www.silverdragons.co.uk together & had raced as sidecar passenger when required & moved later to British Columbia Canada from where I received his assistance.

No 16? John Storr with the Trophy too, With many thanks to Geoffrey Snow.

Des Snow soon just had to get a racer, to compete better! KTT 350 Velocette the easiest to obtain those days, thanks for Pic to G Snow, this First real Racer of Des's is now being restored by son Geoffrey.

Cecil Sandford, who has also helped us get the Eppynt Races website & much more with 'is that a Moto Guzzi?.  with pic thanks to Geoff Snow, this was the period Cecil stuck with his dad in law Arthur Taylor on Velocettes, particularly MOV's plus rode to become World Champ on 3 different Italian marques plus  East German DKW, inc. MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi, Mondial.  at Aberdare Park too.  Born Feb 1921 at blockley Glos. his scrambles exploits saw AJS offer him a team place alongside Les Graham whom he followed into the MV Agusta setup.  5 Grand Prix wins, 4 times World champion on 125 & 250 Machinery, and here he is at Aberdare Park.  He until recently went back to running his own woodworking place  at Shipton on Stour.  Just look at that Van Registration, Arthur Taylor was the semi Works tuner & development man for Velocette.   (ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL CONTENT TO THIS PIC FM G SNOW)

In Full Flight at Aberdare, here, Des Snow on Velo KTT is chasing an AJS 7R.

Des Snow on the KTT Velo 350

A later day & Race on that KTT Velocette, Des Snow.

Des Snow getting away before most, chasing after that Manx Norton #16.  Thanks to Geoffrey Snow for bringing far more atmosphere to Aberdare Park in its old days.

A young Mike Hailwood on the grid at Aberdare, these pics are from Dave Martin's collection.   Absolutely superb & a loss to society as well as racing, his 125 lap record at Aberdare was taken with grace by Phil Landeg of Aberavon/Port Talbot riding his sponsor's > Williams of Bristol machine.  Here Chris Briston based in North America has kindly identified MH plus No33 is Newport rider Ivor Watton on a Triumph May 16th 1959, Thanks to Chris Briston.

Dan Shorey, Aberdare Park specialist! April 30 1960 on his NSU 250, photo by Dave Martin (USA) & identified by Chris Briston (USA) great work & thanks.

Not infrequent!

Who is who? send in? or any other pics too, a Dave Martin Pic with Chris Briston's ID help.   The 2 sitting at right? one may be Norman Storer, (not sure).  Lower left is Jim Adams, one of Hailwood's 2 mechanics, an excellent Road Racer though for some reason not a regular competitor. (He emigrated to South Africa soon after)  Mike Hailwood seated, standing behind him is Dan Shorey & the unmistakable Ray Cowles wearing a "Dai Cap", the Pembrey Racing Circuit people emailed me last week to announce they had named their long straight the Ray Cowles Straight!, respect oozes for a man that sponsored so many greats. That Van with P V Jarvis on it was from Solihull & PVJ raced a 350 Gold Star BSA, believed Sat May 16th 1959.

Syd Barnett, seen here earlier at Aberdare on a Plunger machine, Syd, the Butcher who raced for Arthur Bates & Still will hold forever the Lap Record at Eppynt TT final race which he set up in 1953 when chasing home Les Graham there.  Syd was another who helped so much in getting the Eppynt TT Archive to internet in www.silverdragons.co.uk

Pic from Swansea's off road great, Peter Atkinson who became a Works rider for Cotton, here we see Mike Hailwood No 50, No 56 is Dave Chester with his Triumph, with an obscured number the chap on  Norton at the far end of that line is Lewis Young, No 18 is Ken James on a Triumph Aug 26 1961.  Well done Chris Briston.

No Not Aberdare, is that Les Graham at the far right? 1952 MV Agusta, I do have some Llandow, St Athan, Rhydymwyn, Eppynt plus Kinmel Park pictures promised, send any you can spare.  I shall put more sections in if needed.
